Many people Suffer Pain from Impacted Wisdom Teeth, what’s the solution?

Many people have problems when the wisdom tooth erupts. Many people do not have problems. If the mouth and the jaw are smaller there is no room for the third molar to grow. Such teeth cannot erupt and there is overcrowding. There may be overlap or shift as there are already other teeth.

This leads to pain, inflammation, infection or damage of the adjacent teeth. Some patients cannot tolerate the pain and swelling. This can damage the gums or other teeth. When such patients meet the dentist they prescribe the removal of Impacted Wisdom Teeth. Normally the patients are administered with local anesthesia for the procedure.

The third molars grow in the last. These teeth normally grow between the age of 17 and 26. As it is at the back of the mouth there is no space for it to grow. When there is crowding of teeth, it may cause ear pain, swelling and infection.

There is a collection of bacteria in the part of infection and leads to disease. There may not be any problem with some patients but as they grow old there may be problems. Instead of removing the teeth for older patients it would be easier to remove it when the patient is healthy and young.

Problems from Impacted Wisdom Teeth

There are many problems caused by the impacted wisdom tooth like:
  • There may be pain and infection for some patients
  • The teeth are angled towards the front
  • The teeth do not have the strength to break the gums
  • The tooth may point towards the back of the mouth
  • The tooth may be in 900 and grows into the root of the next molar
Impacted wisdom teeth may cause a cyst due to the infection in the jaw bone. This cyst can damage the nerves, bone and teeth. If there is a tumor formed then the tissue and the jaw bone has to be surgically removed.

If the tooth is not removed immediately, it may lead to strange taste in the mouth, earache, headache, bad breath and swollen or bleeding gums. There are cases of more infections where there is cellulitis in the cheek, tongue or throat. There may be plaque formation which may release toxins for gum irritation.
Impacted Wisdom Teeth

The dentists prescribe many pain killers for reducing the pain like;
  • Pain killers can be swallowed rather than chewing through the sore throat
  • Mouth wash with warm salt water many times in a day reduces the inflammation and soreness.
  • Antibacterial mouth wash can be used
  • If still pain persists, medical intervene is required
Frist the dentist may clean the teeth and prescribe some antibiotics for the pain. But if nothing works then surgical removal of the teeth is required. If the patient has many other medical complications then Wisdom Teeth Dentist has to wait for the procedure. An x-ray may help him to take proper decision. After the teeth are extracted, there may be pain or swelling. Painkillers are prescribed to get over the pain. Impacted wisdom teeth are difficult to be extracted if they are crooked.
